Summer 2010
During the summer we competed in 3 working tests which we ran with Hope and Max. Overall we were very happy with their results, they didn't quite make the top three but made fifth, ninth and tenth which when you consider there are normally 30+ dogs isn't to bad.

We were planning to show Ozzy at our local champ show, the Bournemouth Championship but with two weeks to go he managed to damage his rear foot. Despite us and the vet initially thinking it was a snake bite it turned out to be a splinter the size of most peoples thumb. On any other dog it would have been obvious straight away but his feet are so big and he managed to get it lodged right through we all at first missed it. Eventually it passed completely through his foot and he healed up completely after a few weeks but for a while Simon was unable to walk him as usual and he certainly wasn't up for any showing.

Been a while since I've had any updates but thought I would add this even if its not about our Vizslas! We went up to Crufts this year with Ozzy our Irish Wolfhound having qualified him in his first Champ show (Crufts is his third show) and came back with a first in Special Junior Dog and a third in Special Yearling Dog!

We've never been up to Crufts on a hound day, being amongst 80+ giant wolfhounds was an experience. Ozzy behaved beautifully both in and out of the ring. He has great movement and is a handsome lad although at 15 months he still has some maturing and filling out to do.

He is a very different dog to the Vizslas, he doesn't have their sharp intelligence but he has a massive heart and is very gentle and loving..and he does like to be loved! Plus let face it he is huge! Great to hug mind you.

On the Vizsla front Sharon has been working them this year and doing additional training with Harley. Hope is a natural at working game and so eagar. Hopefully she might be back in the show ring somewhen later this year with Hope and Ozzy. Planning to do some working test and maybe some spring pointing test, will let you know how we get on.

Yes Hope has finally had her puppies last night and has given us 5 bitches and 1 dog. All are healthy and feeding well and mum is producing plenty of milk. Sharon is very pleased with the litter and all are of an even size. They should keep us very busy over the next few weeks as they grow into lively handfuls!

I've stuck some photos and a short video clip below and there are some more photos on our flickr pages here which we will continue to add to.

We still have puppies available, anyone interested in a Viszla puppy please give us a call and we can tell you all about them and what's involved in owning a vizsla pup and dog.

News for May is that Hope is pregnant! And we know its for definate as we got her scanned so no surprise phantom this time. Still a while to go but if everything goes well we should have a litter the beginning of June. Anyone interested in a puppy please give us a bell and we will be happy to talk you through what it's like with a Vizsla in the family!

It's been a while since our last entry but there is not to much to tell. Cruft's was an enjoyable day as always and it was nice to see old friends again. It wasn't to be our year this time with Hope, the competition was very strong and it was a big group in limit. So congrats to the winners and hopefully we'll be back next year.

Harley continues to grow and is one very bright dog with plenty of attitude and confidence. She love playing with Ozzy our Irish Wolfhound puppy and can run circles round him, although if he does catch her he sits on her to stop her getting away!

It's that time of year again and we'll be off to Cruft's on Saturday with Hope. Not expecting to much this year but it's always a great day out. Hope is looking well and healthy so you never know.
The recent furor in the press and general dog world about pedigree dogs and breeders has certainly be sobering. One hopes that a solution can be found that benefits dogs first soon. You can't help but wish though that both sides would just sit down and sort it out without any preconceptions or hidden agendas, only time will tell I guess.

Anyway if you do visit Cruft's and see us in the limit bitch Viszla class come over and say hello..

Well Harley is 13 weeks now and growing stronger and bigger with each week. She's very bright picking up basic obedience commands and toilet training very quickly. Like all Vizslas' she's full of energy wanting to play with the older dogs nearly all the time, so much so they have to put her in her place on occasions with a quick bark. You can almost imagine it like a mum with her toddler saying '..OK dear but thats enough now!..'
Anyway since yesterday shes had someone else to play with as I finally got Ozzy our 8 week old Irish Wolfhound puppy. He about the same size as Harley already and they seem to enjoy playing together a lot. We just have to give him some space from Harley occasionally so he can sleep and rest, something he needs to have with all the growing he'll be doing. Anyone interested can read a little more about him on his own Ozzy blog here.
Lastly here is a picture of the two hooligans together in a quieter moment.

A few more photos of the puppies on what has been our last weekend with them all. Soon Ruby and Eva will be at their new homes and Harley will be starting her new life with the extended Burt family! They've certainly been a bundle of fun, more than making up for the fact there is only three of them.
Jody our eldest daughter is going to take primary responsibility for looking after and puppy training Harley (with guidance and oversight from us of course). Hopefully it will be a great positive experience for them both.
Next main event of our doggie calendar is a trip up north to view some wolf hound puppies, if everything goes according to plan I'm hoping to add yet another addition to our pack very early next year.

2009 is already looking to be a busy year!

I know I'm a little late putting this up but the photo gives it away..yes missy finally had her puppies 2 weeks ago today. She had 5 in total but sadly we lost two, one was stillborn and one died of fading puppy symdrome two days later despite all of our efforts. We were devastated...
Thankfully though that seems to be the last of our troubles. So we have three healthy girls full of life, noise and mischief! Beautiful they all are and getting bigger with each day.

Lastly I need to add that all puppies are now sold.

Puppies... Yes it seems we really are going to be getting some puppies this year from Missy our bitch. She had a scan at our vet today who confirmed that Missy is definately pregnant, Unfortunately we could not determine how many or sex as it is still to early but never the less it is still great news. So hopefully come November we should have the pitter patter of tiny little paws and some news additions to our Vizsla family. As far as Hope is concerned we are still waiting for her to come into season although we are beginning to think she might miss this one.
More news as soon as we get it.

OK I know I promised to post more regularly but things don't always work out as planned and its been pretty hectic in our household. However I hope to update the result pages over the next few days as Sharon has been to one or two shows since Crufts with Hope as well as doing a few Working Tests. I also hope to add some more photos and other stuff to the site.

More news.. Missy has also finally just come into season again so we are counting the days (well frequently visiting the vet) to when she will be ready to mate, still waiting on Hope though. As soon as we have more concrete news I'll post it here. A bit to early to be taking reservations yet but if anyone is interested in a puppy send us a short email with your details or calls us, Sharons is always happy to talk about 'her' vizslas! Me I still holding out for my Wolfhound!

Crufts 2008
What a day, we went to Crufts today just hoping to get a placing and came back with a first in Post Graduate Bitch, qualifying for Crufts 2009 in the process! Anyway I'm jumping ahead here, like a lot of exhibitors we started early (5am) getting everything loaded in the car, getting Hope settled. A fairly unexciting journey up to the NEC and we made our way to Hall 4, stall 6664 and settled in for the day.
Sharon wasn't due in the ring until after lunch so it gave us all a chance to look around the show. I must say it is much more enjoyable in the week than at the weekend, less busy and it also has more space this year and was better organised.
I had a chance to look at the Irish Wolfhounds and spoke to Chris and Sue Neal of Cahmega Irish Wolfhounds, really nice people with great advice on owning a large breed and wolfhounds in particular. It just reinforced my mind that the big hound is the dog for me, Sharon also had a chance to see one and talk to the breeders and be reassured so hopefully later this year we'll be adding a new dog to our Vizsla pack!

Anyway back to the business in hand, come 2pm all the Post Graduates Bitches (16 of them) made there way to the ring, and the judge Mr JJJ Sheridan started looking over each one. He did seemed to like Hope, at one point giving her a very long look, before looking over the other Vizslas. Then..moments later.. he pulled Hope and Sharon out to the center of the ring, then four other Vizslas.
We knew she had been placed but what was it to be? As he made his way down the five taking his notes I could see the steward behind Sharon holding the red 1st place rosette!
It was first!
Fantastic!
Sharon was beeming ear to ear. We all were. A great result. As I said at the beginning, what a day.

Its been a while since our last post but it's been incredibly busy time, I hope to update the site a bit more regularly in future. It's only three weeks now until Crufts and Hope's big chance to show people whats she's made of. Only time will tell if she is what the judges are looking for, recent shows we've attended the judges have tended to favour larger chunkier bitches, nothing wrong with that but that's not Hope so we'll have to see. Either way Crufts is always an experience to remember especially if you've never been before, the sheer size of it is difficult to grasp. Personally I'm hoping to look around the Discover Dogs part as I'm ('that hubby not me' - Sharon) (very) interested in the Irish Wolfhounds, finally a dog to put those Vizslas in their place! Just got to presuade the rest of the family though ;-).
In other news we are still looking to breed from both Hope and Missy this year, as soon as we have news it will be posted here and on Champdogs but if all goes according to plan we should have some puppies between August and October.
Next update will probably be after Crufts with some photos and results - wish us luck!

Well we had a great holiday and came back expecting puppies this week. Walked in the door and looked at Missy thinking 'she looks a bit small'. She had all the signs of being pregnant, lactating and building a nest for her puppies, but was just not the size expected.

A trip to the vet was in order...

The following day we knew our worst fears were realised,she wasn't pregnant with puppies at all it was a phantom pregnancy. These things happen unfortunately but still very, very dissapointing for us and anyone waiting for puppies from us.
We will be in touch with everyone on our waiting list personally over the next few days to inform them and pass on details of any other breeders we know are expecting a litter soon.
For ourselves it will be next year now before we can try again although Hope will also be old enough for her first litter by then as well.
So for now it's looking forward to the Midland County CC Show, if you see us there feel free to come over and have a chat.

Finally Missy has come into season, I think she was trying to set a new record for the gap between her seasons. Anyway we hope to get her mated any day now so if everything goes to plan we should have some puppies late september.
Also just to stir up our male dogs even more Hope has come into season at the same time, poor Ben (our 13 year old Minature Schnauzer) has been rediscovering his youth and is dead keen, showing more vigour than Max our 6 year old Vizsla! Not that the bitches will let either close enough..yet. Thank god for segregated kennels is all I say!

Well it's been quiet for a little while now, we are waiting for Missy to come in to season so we can breed from her, hopefully not to long now.
On a more positive note entered Hope in the recent W.E.L.K.S Championship show where she did us proud with a 1st in Post Grad (bitch), then the next weekend took Max to a Working Test at Durley Hants (his first one for over a year), where he managed 5th out of 42 dogs in his class missing out on being placed by 1 point!

Upgraded our membership on Champdogs today to advanced. This will allow us to record more details about our dogs, their results and past and future litters on another source in addition to this blog / website.
Champdogs is an excellent resource for anyone looking for a dog. Not only does it provide a fairly comprehensive list of breeders etc for different breeds but also breed guides and other relevant info.

Well what can we say, only a few days in to the month and our first show in December, the Ladies Kennel Club Association (LKA) at the Birmingham NEC. We took Hope to compete in her last Junior bitch class before she moves up to Post Grad. And what a way to finish taking 1st in Junior bitch against 6 or more other very nice bitches. She's showing very well at the moment and the Judges can see this. All in all a great day out!

Latest news from the world of our Vizsla's! Shooting season has well and truely started and Missy is getting some 'real world' use of her natural HPR skills and all the stuff she been soaking up at the gundog training sesssions she attends and so far, (fingers crossed) she's doing herself and us proud.
This month we've been to two shoots at Durley near Southampton both well attended with 3-4 spaniels, 2 other HPR's and a wire haired Vizsla. Weather has been reasonable on the day but poor on days previous to the shoot which has held back the birds (not to keen on getting wet either!). The ground is all woodland and there are normally ten guns in attendance, so overall a nice little rough shoot. Hopefully next time there we'll get some photo's to post.
In the new year we will be taking Hope as well just to get here started and introduce her to the real things. We hope (no pun intended) she does well.

We currently have four Vizslas, three bitches Hope, Harley and their mum Missy and Max our dog.

Harley is our most recent addition from Missy's second litter. She's already showing the natural traits of a Vizsla, good intelligence and loads of energy. The photo here shows her at 8 weeks old(Jan 09)

Hope is our first puppy from Missy and is doing very well in the show ring with firsts as a bitch puppy and now a junior.

Missy is our working dog with razor sharp intelligence and a loving nature. She has also been shown in the show ring but has a natural appitude for working.

Max is our first Vizsla and semi retired now. He has qualified for Crufts in the past and enjoys working as well. Loyal and protective he is now enjoying the quiet life.

All four Vizslas are very much a part of our family and along with our four daughters it makes for a very busy and noisy household, however we wouldn't have it any other way.

Hope is a fantastic bitch, full of energy, not afraid of anything. She loves company as all Vizslas do and gets on well with our young children and our other dogs. She can be as 'daft as a brush' or as 'sharp as a knife' and although not quite the escapologist her mum was can find her way out of most places.

She has grown to be slightly larger than her mum but spot on the breed standard although she still has some growing to do in respect of she is still maturing.

We hope (ha!) to breed from Hope in the future she being the first of the Envagyok breed line and will post details on this site as soon as they are known.

July 2005 Missy had her first litter of puppies. We had been very careful in selecting a good stud dog that would complement her own qualities eventually choosing SH CH Tragus Starflyer JW from the Linda and Peter Upton (Tragus). He is beautiful dog and much in demand.

On July 10th Missy finally had 6 puppies, 5 bitches and 1 dog all heathy and very lively!

We kept one bitch (Hope) for ourselves and found the remaining 5 loving homes dotted around the UK. Vizsla's are even more beautiful and cute as puppies and it's hard to resist them with their little faces!

Soon enough though they had discoverered their voices and come feeding times they are more than happy to tell you 'we're still here, feed us!'
It's always sad when they are sold as it is impossible not to have some sort of personal feelings for each of them, it does however just makes us all the more determined to ensure they go to good homes
